Below, are some tips on how children can best care for their glasses.
  • Always use both hands to put eyeglasses on and take them off. Using one hand can damage the temples, nose pads, and misalign the optics.
  • Always place them in their protective case, lenses facing upward, when they are not being worn.
  • Always use a microfibre cloth and eyeglass-specific cleaner to clean eyeglasses. Using a shirt, paper towel, and/or household cleaners can scratch and damage the lenses and lens coatings.
  • Rinsing eyeglasses with room temperature water before using a microfibre cloth ensures that dirt and particles are not pressed into the lens when wiping.

Hoya, Zeiss, and Essilor all offer myopia control eye glass lenses. As of 2023, the lenses with the most scientific backing and with the best statistical performance is Hoya's MiYOSMART myopia management lenses. A two-year clinic trial shows that MiYOSMART lenses with Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) technology slowed myopia progression on average by 60% and halt myopia progression by 21.5%.

If your child's prescription is current, you may supply us with your prescription information by one of the following methods:
  • Supply us with a hard copy or digital copy of your child's prescription signed by the prescribing optometrist;
  • Authorize our eye care professionals to request your child's prescription on your behalf from the prescribing clinic; or
  • If your child's prescription is not current or you feel that it may have changed, we would happily schedule an eye exam for you with one of our optometrists.

Eyeglasses are a personalized product. Accordingly, the price of eyeglasses depends on a multitude of criteria unique to your child - your child's prescription, lens design, lens index, number and type of lens coatings, frame type, frame materials, etc. Our Single Vision Child Eyeglass Packages (Frame + Lenses) begin at only $139.

In general, it is our position that most children benefit from scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, oleophobic, and blue light filtering lens coatings. However, a child's lifestyle and how they use their eyes the most influence the level of benefit they offer. Our licensed opticians always present patients with options, share how they address their particular needs, and identify how they would benefit. The final decision on whether to include lens coatings is always that of the patient, or their parents. Our responsibility is to inform patients and their parents before they make such an important decision.

Pupillary Distance (PD) measurements are not included in an eyeglass prescription, as they are taken only as part of an eyewear purchase. If you're considering purchasing prescription eyewear online, please read the following reasons why that may not be your best option.
